A little about our History

The LORD's International School MANILA has made good progress in spite of the many difficulties it has had to face. The LORD's International School"MANILA" Bukuru came to existence as a result of the wish of Mrs Elizabeth Jamila Imogie to start a model nursery and primary school that would be "dedicated" to the grooming of "young children" even as the missionaries of old did in Nigeria, she having benefitted from attending such schools from the primary to the secondary school levels.
The school started under the name MANILA International School, Bukuru (The name Manila was derived from the last three letters of Usman and Jamila). After the incorporation of Manila Enterprises as a business outfit in November, 1993, the school (an arm of this outfit) started in January, 1994. With three of Mrs. Imogie’s children and their rented apartment as school building (Km 12 Yakubu Gowon Way on the Bukuru Express Way, near the Bukuru Low Cost Bridge), the school took off formally. ...

The school is therefore self-supporting, self-propagating and self governed, and by the grace of God has continued to make In the year 1998, Mr. Imogie, the husband to Mrs. Imogie, who had earlier given his life to Christ in 1993, shared in the vision for the school and joined in the force with her, and this brought along all other members of the family into the school set up. Many God fearing and faithful men and women of God have joined the staff through prayers encouragements and advice to see to the success of what God is doing at MANILA International School, Bukuru. In May 1998, the Plateau State Ministry of Education formally approved the establishment of MANILA International School as a Nursery/Primary School. The school has had to move two times first from the Expressway into Bukuru town to Tetengi Hotels Complex Compound and later to its present and permanent site at Rahwol Gyel on the way to Sabon Gidan Kanar. This final movement was effected on the 4th of October, 1999, with staff strength of six people and a pupil population of about seventy-five. The school building consisted of only temporary wooden structures with no door or window shutters and no toilet facilities, but in each of these movements, we have seen the miraculous hands of God at work. Even in the day to day running of this school since its inception, we have received divine favour. From 4th of October, 2000, the school has taken on a new name: THE LORD’S INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL (MANILA), following an inspiration to do so.
